Priscilla Portocarrero

  Spanish TK/K & 1st Grade

Priscilla Portocarrero has a B.A in Psychology from Universidad Femenina del Sagrado Corazón (UNIFE) in Lima, Perú and a specialization in Family Therapy from Universidad de La Sabana in Bogotá, Colombia. Her area of expertise is the socio-emotional development of children. She has ample training in Conscious Discipline and is a certified Positive Discipline Parenting Educator from the Positive Discipline Association.

Priscilla has worked with children and families for over seven years; first as a child psychologist and family therapist and most recently as a teacher. She taught at La Casita ABC Español and provided Spanish classes in elementary schools in Seattle.

 

What she loves most about teaching in Spanish to children is seeing how students discover a new world. Her teaching style is very dynamic. She incorporates songs, drama, and games to teach children vocabulary, reading, and writing. At GIS, she looks forward to motivating students to love the Spanish language and culture!

Priscilla lives in Sammamish with her husband, two daughters, her mother, and 2 cats and 1 dog). In her spare time, you can find her at a CrossFit class, swimming, or skiing. She also loves to travel to different parts of the world with her family!
