Spanish Teacher 5th Grade & Teacher Assistant Kinder
Mayela was born and raised in Mexico City. After pursuing a career in medicine, she became a certified physician specializing in hospital nutrition and eating disorders. For over 10 years, Mayela enjoyed teaching medicine at the university where she had studied (Universidad Anahuac). Six years ago, she and her family moved to Seattle because of her husband’s job. Recently, Mayela completed a Master’s in Education with endorsements in Elementary Education and Multilingual Education at City U in Seattle.
Her love for education brought her to the Issaquah School District, where she was dedicated to making sure all her students feel supported, challenged, and engaged, while embracing their diverse cultural backgrounds.
Mayela lives in Sammamish with her husband, two kids (Leo and Andrea) and two lovely dogs. They often visit Mexico to stay close to family and friends, as these connections are very important to her and play a significant role in both her personal and professional life.
