We want our school mascot to be the letter ‘i’, just like the ‘i’ in idea! Now, we need your imagination to bring this mascot to life. What could an ‘i’ become? Let your creativity soar and help us design an incredible mascot!
We are a Bilingual (English-Spanish) Elementary School that cherishes the potential of each student, providing a safe place where they can be, explore, and belong.
Global Idea School is an independent, non-profit elementary school located in Redmond. The school provides a child-centered, hands-on education in a joyful, small-class environment through a cross-disciplinary curriculum.

We are very happy with our experience at Global Idea School. We love the bilingual and globally focused educa- tion. Our daughters (kindergarten and 2nd grade) are able to have entire conversations in Spanish. They prac- tice mindfulness exercises daily at school, and our daughters practice breathing exercises to calm them- selves at home, too.
GIS has been an incredible fit for our daughter. She receives more individu- alized instruction than larger class- room settings can provide, and is accelerating academically as a result. The teaching staff genuinely care and prioritize building her self-confidence, both academically and in relationships with peers.
We were determined to find our child a Spanish immersion program to pre- serve our native language, but we have found that GIS gives us much more than that. The small class sizes, strong Parent Committee, daily updates with pictures of what the kids are learning, ease of communication, focus on emotional intelligence, are just some examples of why we love this school.

G.I.S News
Students from Roots & Shoots at Global Idea School volunteered with Whale Scout to support local ecosystems. By caring for new native plantings along the Sammamish River, students helped improve water quality and protect salmon habitats—an essential food source for endangered Southern Resident orcas. Small actions, big impact for our watersheds and wildlife.
Students toured the farm and learned how coffee is grown, harvested, and roasted — even tasting both the fruit and the roasted beans! They also helped care for the chicken coop and veggie garden, and spent time in class learning about Mayan culture while reinforcing their math, music, and social studies skills.
Juan Miguel Lavista is one of our computer science teachers. He is also the chief data scientist at the AI for Good Lab at Microsoft. In his TED Talk, Juan M. Lavista Ferres showcases how artificial intelligence and innovative, solar-powered devices are being used to monitor and protect wildlife in real time.
