Last weekend, G.I.S. Roots & Shoots students took their learning beyond the classroom by volunteering with Whale Scouts to help restore vital salmon habitat and support the survival of our region’s Southern Resident killer whales.
Through this hands-on experience, students had the opportunity to contribute to local conservation efforts while learning more about the important connections within our ecosystem.
We came together for a beautiful celebration of Peace Day! Our Roots & Shoots students gathered to honor Jane Goodall’s legacy and celebrate International Day of Peace. They created a beautiful dove to represent the spirit of the day and everything we can do to help create a more peaceful world.
Students from Roots & Shoots at Global Idea School volunteered with Whale Scout to support local ecosystems. By caring for new native plantings along the Sammamish River, students helped improve water quality and protect salmon habitats—an essential food source for endangered Southern Resident orcas. Small actions, big impact for our watersheds and wildlife.
