Spanish TK/K & 1st Grade

Silvia Calderón is originally from Colombia. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and Literature from the Universidad Industrial de Santander (Bucaramanga, Colombia) and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Education at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá. She brings more than 15 years of experience teaching Spanish to students from preschool through high school.
Deeply committed to continuous professional growth, Silvia has completed several diploma programs in competency-based education, literacy, and project-based learning. In her pedagogical practice, she believes it is essential for students to develop both strong cognitive abilities and meaningful soft skills through dynamic, situated, and enriching learning experiences that foster key 21st-century competencies.
Silvia is truly happy to be part of the G.I.S community. She is passionate about offering children a caring, engaging, and academically rich learning environment where they feel confident, motivated, and excited to learn Spanish. Through her experience and dedication, she strives to support each child’s language development while nurturing curiosity, creativity, and a love for learning.
Silvia is the proud mother of one son. In her free time, she enjoys attending Zumba classes, reading, listening to music, and spending quality time with her family.
