Field Trip: Botanical Garden

We took an all school field trip to the Bellevue Botanical Garden. Students learned about native plants, made observations and sorted leaves based on their characteristics. They also practiced identifying around 10 different native plants and learned facts about each one. Plus, they got to explore a suspension bridge, a big hit! As well, they listened attentively to nature sounds, which included many bird calls and a very loud frog. They learned how the Coast Salish peoples utilized natural resources to build and they tried building a wall using a similar method. And students also got to try out some traditionally indigenous games using plants and tried weaving with paper.

It was, to use their words, “SO FUN!”
