To support our learning-teaching approach,
at Global Idea School we use the materials and methods of these curriculums:

FOUNDATIONS OF OUR CURRICULUM
We have developed our unique curriculum inspired and adapted from evidenced based-approaches — HighScope®, Responsive Classroom®, Círculo Mágico©, and from specific approved guidelines for different subject areas.
We incorporate aspects of the STEAM curriculum that integrates science, technology, engineering, art, and math and we have expanded it to include language(s) and social studies: STEAMS.
We comply with Washington State Common Core Standards that aim to develop concepts, skills, and attitudes in Arts, Health, Literacy, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies and Technology.
With this holistic perspective, learners develop 21st century skills such as socio-emotional intelligence, critical, global thinking and problem-solving skills; learn to work collaboratively and respect each other’s contributions; and use creativity and inquiry to learn.

CROSS DISCIPLINARY CURRICULUM
Interrelated Subjects
The different subjects are interrelated through projects, thematic inquiries, current events, problem-solving processes, and each month has a theme in a global context with open-endeded questions that spark conversation between learners and provide the teachers with ideas to incorporate in their lesson plans. This broadens each learner’s perspective and connects real life to learning while valuing what is interesting to the students.
Team Teaching
Teachers of different subject areas and/or grade levels develop common projects, address content simultaneously, and team-teach. This teaching strategy allows students to deeply learn about a topic, current issue, or experience because it is examined across various subjects.
