3rd and 4th Grades Visit the Microsoft Accessibility Lab

An AMAZING field trip to the Microsoft Accessibility Lab today!

3rd and 4th graders had the opportunity to meet and learn from Jenny Lay-Flurrie, the chief accessibility officer, and her team.

Students explored and got to try out different technologies that make everyday practices (like reading an email, opening a computer, speaking etc.) more accessible.

Students discussed different visible and invisible disabilities and learned about different tools that can help make life easier. They got to practice some of their ASL too!

The main takeaway from this experience was the recognition that people with disabilities are equal to everyone else and should be treated accordingly. Everyone desires independence, and the technologies developed by Jenny and her team enable individuals to achieve just that.

Thank you Microsoft Accessibility Lab!
