Sol Flaherty

English Teacher TK/& 2nd Grade

Sol was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Sol came to the US to work in Biomedical Research. She completed graduate studies at NYU School of Medicine, earning a Phd in Biomedical Sciences. In 2016, after several years of doing research,  Sol decided to follow her dream career, being an educator. She first taught Pre-Kindergarten for 2 years at Bright Horizons. This experience further confirmed to her that teaching young kids was her calling.

This year, Sol completed a Masters in Elementary Education at  WGU obtaining her Washington State Teaching Certification. During her Masters, Sol did her Pre-Clinical studies in Kindergarten, and her

Demonstration Teaching (DT) in 4th grade, at the Evergreen School.

During  this time she also worked as a substitute teacher for K-4th grades. After finishing her DT, Sol was offered a position for the rest of the school year, as a Learning Support Assistant, helping children from K-3rd grades in Math and Language.During her time at Evergreen, Sol built upon her passion for teaching, and her determination in becoming an educator supporting  students to reach their full potential both, socially-emotionally and academically.

Sol lives in Seattle with her husband and her daughter Zoe (who will be joining Kindergarten at GIS). In her free time she loves going on hikes and walks with her family, especially with Zoe since she loves her inquisitive mind and answering her questions. Sol also loves movies, reading books (especially the ones that help her become a better teacher and mom), and spending time with her friends.
