At Global Idea School, “global” means acknowledging the humanity we share with all people. We present a holistic perspective that respects, encompasses, and coherently interrelates diversity, multiplicity, and complexity in every aspect of our lives. The policies, decisions, processes, programs, and activities of our school are founded on a GLOBAL way of viewing ourselves and the world, ingrained in the IDEA of our school:

Global Intelligence

 

By Global Intelligence we mean a comprehensive understanding of our place in the world that integrates ways of feeling, thinking, and interacting responsibly.

Therefore, at GLOBAL IDEA SCHOOL,

  • We foster social-emotional growth through the recognition of feelings, their expression, and the awareness of their impact on oneself and others.
  • We support bold initiatives by our learners and teachers.
  • We encourage creative, comprehensive, and critical thinking.
  • We emphasize empathic, compassionate, and kind actions that contribute to develop social and community skills.

Global Development

 

Global Development refers to the continuous discovery of each student’s unique potential and of their role within a community throughout their lifetime.

Therefore, at GLOBAL IDEA SCHOOL,

  • We acknowledge that each child is unique, with specific beliefs, interests, emotions, and abilities, and meet each one at its own stage of development.
  • We identify and appreciate each learner’s distinctive patterns and rhythms of learning, feeling, and behaving to respond accordingly.
  • We interrelate different subjects through projects, themes, and/or current events to broaden each learner’s perspective.
  • We assess the development of each student to guide our teaching.

Global Exploration

 

Global Exploration implies that learning ought to be fun, hands-on, and an on-going process in a school environment of trust and acceptance.

Therefore, at GLOBAL IDEA SCHOOL,

  • We strive to create a joyful environment for learners to take risks at their own pace, learn from their mistakes and successes, and be proud of their own processes as well as the results.
  • We offer a variety of activities throughout the day for learners to experiment, examine, test, and value their feelings, beliefs, interests, and ideas.
  • We promote cross-disciplinary learning through projects, thematic inquiries, and problem-solving processes that connect real life to learning while valuing what is interesting to the students.
  • We generate options for learners to explore individually, with peers, and with adults.

Global Attitude

 

A global attitude acknowledges the different ways of feeling, thinking, and behaving among human beings and recognizes that respecting and accepting these differences lead us to develop deep connections with each other and our environment.

  • We inspire an inclusive community where differences, multiplicity, and diversity are respected, valued, and celebrated.
  • We endorse collective decision-making as it involves deep listening, civil debate, and negotiation, necessary skills to successfully interact with others.
  • We provide a worldwide context to the topics being taught, invite our learners to consider alternative viewpoints, model humility, a growth mindset, and open-mindedness to our learners, and cultivate nature awareness, responsibility, and sustainability.
